Social Disclaimer

Dear international readers, especially those who are citizens of my delightful host country, France. If articles I publish here at The Colloquial Tongue sometimes come across as antagonistic or hateful in any way, then you should understand that is not what I am about nor what is going here at The Colloquial Tongue.

Being that the purpose of this online journal is to inform friends and family back home in the United States of my life here in France, I will occasionally publish articles that are written for the sole purpose of comparing everyday things, such as stores, television programs, habits, customs/culture, and so forth. I call things like I see them, nothing is fabricated; however, I do try and color my stories up a bit for entertainment purposes only, and in doing so I poke a little fun in the process. Certainly this is not a foreign concept to the French (or anyone else), who make fun of Americans at every opportunity. Its all a bit of light-hearted fun, really.

To be sure, I might just as much write an article in awe of French (European) architecture, cuisine, or anything else that strikes me as magnificent, and there is certainly much I have yet to discover.

I would say if what I write does not sit well with anyone in particular, then you are probably just not comfortable in your own skin, or you simply need to take things with a pinch more salt. I can just as easily make fun of my own country as anywhere else, and when your eyes stop seeing red, you might find that to be the case more than you first realize.
